Hey, guys!
What’s up? I hope you are all doing well, had a great holiday, and enjoyed New Year’s in whatever way you felt best and were safe!
I didn’t really do too much. For Christmas my family and I headed to Florida and hung out there for a week. I didn’t do anything except eat, sleep, read, play games, and see some family friends. It felt like a vacation.
I’m back now and, unfortauntely, there is a winter storm approaching on Saturday, so I will have to return to campus early. Im hoping we start second semester off correctly #snowday2020? Anyway, I had a bunch of books I procrastinated on reading cause I slept in too late, and watched too many movies. Ugh. Now, here I am moving back early. So, so sad.
Well, I have some exciting news! My friend and I sat down and recorded the first episode of our podcast. I just finished editing the first episode. We recorded it on our phone so the sound quality is not that great but the content quality is fantastic. On our upcoming podcast we talk about positive things and habits and how we have overcome our personal obstacles while having fun. I will post link where you can listen to it as soon as it comes together. π
That is a little update on what I have been up to, but I have also been thinking about practicing mindfulness. If someone out there does not know what this is that is okay. I am going to explain it right now. Mindfulness is a practice where you sit down and meditate focusing on your five senses and the current moment. You basically watch your thoughts without judgement and it has been proven to reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety, IBS, etc.
I have been checking out a lot of books at the library that discusses these practices and although I have not finished reading them due to the reason I listed above lol, I fully intend on educating myself more on the topic. I want to incorporate these practices in 2020 not as a new years resolution but to supplement my intention of becoming more mindful.
Comment below and let me know what your intentions are for this year! What are some small steps you want to take to achieve them? π
